Free-shipping threshold examples

Nudging carts past a threshold with progress bars.

Magic Spoon teardown

food & beverage

Magic Spoon

Magic Spoon already does the hard part: the cart cross-sells four low-ticket add-ons and the PDP runs a bundle builder and a subscribe-and-save offer. The revenue left on the table is in the scaffolding: no spend threshold to climb toward, a subscription engine that goes quiet at the cart, a quantity ladder that never frames the bigger basket, and no post-purchase catch once the payment is locked.

Lemme teardown

supplements

Lemme

One of the more monetised carts we've audited: a gift threshold, a Routine bundle, and per-item subscribe already run on Rebuy. So the exercise is sharp; where does a brand that already lifts the first order well add second-sale value? The answers are a margin-checked threshold, a cheap PDP entry point, and the untouched post-purchase window.

AG1 teardown

supplements

AG1

We audited AG1's monetisation on mobile, where most of the revenue is decided. The offer-stack craft is elite, but every order is capped at one pouch, the attach-ready SKUs are only ever given away free, and the cart drawer is a blank panel. On the phone, the second-sale upside is the biggest line item left untouched.

Bombas teardown

apparel, socks & basics

Bombas

A store with the thresholds and gifting built, but the attach motion missing. On mobile a €57 sandal sits €3 short of free shipping with nothing to add: the highest-intent moment in the funnel, monetised by nothing. The second sale is being left on the table.

Glossier teardown

beauty & skincare

Glossier

A mobile beauty store with the monetisation furniture already bolted on: a shipping threshold, a PDP add-on, real set bundles, subscribe-and-save, Afterpay. What leaks is sequencing and reach on a phone: the bundle machinery hides a marathon scroll below the buy box, the add-on never echoes into the bag, and a cart that quotes a 70-euro gap offers nothing to clear it.

Liquid Death teardown

beverages (canned water) & merch

Liquid Death

Most stores leak a fraction of their second sale; this one has shipped the whole thing to a third party. The phone shopper buys the high-AOV 12-pack on Amazon, so multipack revenue and every cent of repeat LTV accrue somewhere the owned store cannot touch. With no in-house bundle, plan, or drawer cross-sell, there is nothing for upsells to compound on.

Our Place teardown

home & cookware

Our Place

A bundle-led store that already monetises: the PDP defaults to a 16-piece set and pushes an 18-piece "MOST SAVINGS" tier, and the drawer runs a free-ship bar plus a cross-sell. The second-sale money left on the phone: no bump at the add moment, a cross-sell that opens at $84, and a free-ship reward with no tier behind it.

IM8 Health teardown

supplements

IM8 Health

A brand that monetises the first order brilliantly: stacks, subscription, welcome-kit gifting, and a Rebuy cart cross-sell already live. The room left is a low-ticket bump, a consumable cart cross-sell, and the wide-open post-purchase window.

Spacegoods teardown

supplements

Spacegoods

One of the rarer teardowns: a store that already upsells. Subscription on the buy box, a cross-sell and free-shipping bar in the cart. The money still on the table is the first-order bump, a reward worth chasing, and the post-purchase window.
